A member asked:

Are dentists considered doctors? what kind of schooling do they get?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Theodore Davantzis answered

Specializes in Dentistry

Absolutely: Four years undergraduate, four years dental school, and in many states a residency program. They can perform surgery in your mouth, and can prescribe medications. Licensed by the state they practice in, in certain circumstances can admit patients to a hospital. Are they physicians, no. But physicians are not dentists, either. Both held to same standards in treating patients.
