A member asked:

Endoscopy/colonoscopy on 11/20/2014. what does ileal mucosa showing reactive lymphoid nodules mean? had 6 different biopsies done

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reactive changes: The terminal ileum contains lymphoid aggregates / nodules as part of its normal makeup. When this part of the body reacts to something foreign, infectious or inflammatory, it reacts by making these lymphoid aggregates / nodules enlarge and show reactive features. Most of the time when the exposure ends, so do the reactive lymphoid aggregates / nodules.
