Constipation in: breast fed babies is uncommon but can occur transiently after introduction of new foods. Gentle rectal stimulation with a rectal thermometer or inflant glycerin suppository is usually effective. Persistent constipation, bloody discharge from the rectum, vomiting, abdominal distension and excessive pain warrant immediate evaluation by your pediatrician.
