Diet exercise & Meds: Treatment is geared to the type of hyperlipidemia. The general modalitie are diet low in saturated fats and carbohydrates, weight loss throug diet and exercise, treatment of underlying illness, e.g., diabetes, hypothyroidism; use of drugs such as statins. Additional drugs may be added depending on the response.

Diet &extdize: And currently there are multiple medications that can be taken such as Lipitor (atorvastatin) and vytorin and omega 3.
