Healthy: lifestyle choices are the best place to start! Be sure to eat a healthy diet and exercise daily which is the most natural way to lower cholesterol. There is some evidence that garlic supplementation lowers cholesterol levels although this has not been validated in randomized controlled studies.

Simple stuff: A sensible diet (your physician and/or a dietician may guide you) and plenty of aerobic exercise are answers you have already heard and you may be surprised to learn they will help some. However, high cholesterol is largely genetic and you can't do a thing about this -- if you refuse medication you truly need, you'll pay with your life. If it has to be "natural", there's a yeast that makes statin.

Pumpkin seeds: Are high in calories, fiber, minerals, vitamins & anti oxidants. Their oleic acid content (a mono unsaturated fatty acid) helps lower the bad LDL & elevate the good HDL cholesterol.

It depends: On the cause. Most of the time, this is due to plaque and calculus and is treated by a professional cleaning and good oral hygiene. However, some serious systemic diseases can cause swollen gums, so it is best to visit a dentist for an evaluation.

Cardio conditioning: There are many causes of cardiac inflammation--infections, drug/chemo, radiation effects, excess alcohol, rheumatologic diseases, uncontrolled diabetes etc..While exercise itself does not get rid of inflammation in the heart, it may improve heart function and general health. It can help lower cholesterol/sugar, blood pressure and thus better heart-health. Other diseases must be treated. Good luck.

How can I raise good cholesterol if I have IBS and have been instructed not to eat fruits veggies nuts or starches?

Do some web searches: Look for foods with monounsaturated fats (olive oil, peanut butter, etc...). Read up on such foods on nutrition websites. Avoiding sugars and simple starches should help raise good cholesterol (fruits have a lot of sugar, and breads are simple starches). That means lean protein such as skinless chicken breast, pork loin (whiter meat), and tofu can be considered. Ask the doctor about nut butters.
