Methimazole: Hi. Methimazole is actually preferred over PTU (propylthiouracil) in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Talk with your endocrinologist about using methimazole. Treatment should be on the lighter side (i.e., leave you a little on the hyperthyroid side). Fetal thyroid should be monitored, as your Graves' antibodies cross the placenta, and can cause fetal goiter. Good luck!
