A member asked:

I was told i have hashitoxicosis. is there a way to treat it? i was on ptu (propylthiouracil) for 2 years because the dr said i had hyperthyroidism. i no longer take ptu (propylthiouracil)

Hashitoxicosis: Graves disease and hashimoto's thyroiditis are both autoimmune thyroid disorders. In typical graves, the antibodies make the thyroid overactive. In typical hashi, the antibodies destroy the thyroid. Sometimes both occur together; you can be hyperthyroid, and eventually "burn out" and become normal, or hypothyroid. So what is your thyroid doing now? Follow the advice of your endocrinologist.
