A member asked:

What to do if i have hyperthyroidism and is taking ptu (propylthiouracil). is a bitter after taste lasting for more than an hr normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Side effect: Ptu (propylthiouracil) is known to have a bad taste and aftertaste. The more commonly used medication to treat hyperthyroidism is methimazole. This med does not have much of an aftertaste, and is currently the recommended med rather than ptu (propylthiouracil) (unless you have previously had problems with methimazole).
