Should be ok: the effectiveness will be decreased but it will not be harmful.however if it smells bad, looks bad or tastes bad it probably is and don't use it.

Not recommended: You should never use expired medicine. As it gets old, the chemicals can break down and produce undesired effects or the medication is no longer effective.
