Meckel scan/surgery: Meckel's diverticulum, a common GI tract congenital anomaly, is difficult to diagnose. Many remain asymptomatic, some mimic disorders like appendicitis, ulcer disease and crohns. Ectopic gastric and/or pancreatic tissue, is found in about half the cases. Meckel's are found incidentally at surgery. A technitium scan, or meckel's scan, can pick up the ectopic tissue, with surgery recommended.
