3 things are used: Counseling including groups & cbt (cognitive behavioral therapy), medication with psychiatric evaluation & follow-up & thorough medical evaluation with continuing medical care as needed. All of these vary in intensity & length of treatment based on the severity of the eating disorder. More recently multiple web sites dedicated to information about treatment & support systems are forming a 4th arm.
