A member asked:

Do you dream while under general anesthesia with propofol?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Occasionally: Most patients do not dream while under general anesthesia. We call it sleep but the brain isn't actually sleeping when anesthetized. We just call it that because that's what it looks like. No sleep means no dreams. So usually people do not dream during the anesthetic itself, but there are periods both before and after the surgery where you are legitimately sleeping and may dream.
