Yes: Any infection can elevate the white blood cell count. Additionally, platelet count can also be elevated in the setting of infection as an acute phase reactant. Platelet count can also be elevated for other reasons as well. If you think that you have either of the infections above or any infection for that matter, please make an appointment with your doctor.
