Can there be palpable varicosities that can't be seen by the naked eye?

Yes: It is possible to feel a vein (with or without varicosities) without being able to see it - ask any ER or ICU nurse!

Sure: If you are referring to varicose veins, if you have enough surrounding tissue it may be hard to see but only felt.

Yes there are: There are patients that have issues with varicosities the bottom of their arches. They can be palpated but are deep. Usually only superficial veins are seen. The deep ones are not seen but can be felt or picked up on a Doppler.
