No harm: Pinhole glasses only allow the image to be projected through the center of your cornea and lens where no refractive error will blur the image. This does no harm, but also won't help your underlying refractive error.

Pinhole: A pin hole is used to determine if someone with blurry vision needs a glass prescription , if vision is improved with the pinhole then glasses would help. While it does help the vision, peripheral vision is greatly diminished it does not hurt the eyes but why use these glasses if the peripheral vision is adversely affected. Best to get the accurate prescription for glasses.
