Unregulated ...: The biggest problem with workout supplements, as with all supplements, is their manufacture is unregulated so no guarantees about purity, safety or effectiveness can be given. Protein, a key to muscle building, is found in many supplements; too much can harm kidneys. Better to get protein in diet. The big categories to avoid beyond this: anything suggesting steroids, stimulants or hormones.

TFY:ThinkForYourself: Stay away from the advertisements in all those muscle building magazines; take most of their advice with a grain of salt unless you know it might apply to you and your body specifically. If you are eating a healthy diet with lots of protein and ruffage(veggies, salads)and fluids you'll do fine.An extra"smoothie"or protein bar won't kill you but steroids will.Resist peer pressure.Find your own way.
