Need more info: Please give me more details of your age and menstrual pattern, specially presence of cramps. Some women may have heaviness and cramps in their legs during menstrual cycles. It i usually normal.

Not usual symptom.: Painful numbness is not a normal symptom associated with periods (or anything else). You need a physical exam by your doc to find out what is going on. Do it very soon!
