Are there statistics on how much average life expectancy is shortened by loss of the spleen? the person is a sixty-year old female who lost her splee

Should be normal: A small study showed that life expectancy after splenectomy is normal. That of course depends on the underlying illness dictating the need for splenectomy. Be sure that pneumonia vaccine, meningitis vaccine are taken. These vaccines help prevent severe infections which can occur after seen removal.
