Mgt: Mononucleosis may cause enlargement of the spleen which can last weeks, but usually resolves without further complications.

Descriptive term: Heterogenous just means it does not have a uniform appearance throughout its mass. This is pretty much expected,since it is composed of many differing components throughout. It may also be accentuated some by the extra work it is doing dealing with the infection (which is what it does).You don't treat it, it is not necessarily anything more than a general description, like calling someone tall.
