Finish your antibiot: You need to finish your antibiotics, continue to gargle with warm water, and try to "slush" the water around in your mouth. This may help to reduce the swelling. After you finish the antibiotics, you will need to be rechecked--then you will know if the peri-tonsilar abscess needs to be drained.

Possibly: If your Doctor advised you for surgery, I would follow the Advise.Antibiotics help control the infection. But Abscess some times needs to be drained.
