Yes: Aspirin is salicylic acid and is actually derived from extracts of willow bark. As such willow bark will have very similar properties.

Hypothetically: Interesting question. Aspirin is found in willow bark. So, technically it would have some anti-clotting properties. However, willow bark doesn't have a direct milligrams of Aspirin. So I would never recommend my pt to take willow bark in the place of aspirin especially if they needed the anti-clotting properties. Hope this helps.

Willow bark: Hi, I searched the medical literature and I could;t find any data to support that, so if you need anti-platelets of Aspirin then stick with the Aspirin.
