HIV is weak: The HIV virus cannot stay infectious on a surface such as a fork, toothbrush or even a razor for an extended time. That is why HIV has "never" been transmitted between family members in non-sexual non-needle sharing settings. [MMWR 42(49), 1993]. However, if you are worried about HIV, had risky sexual behavior, or haven't been tested yet, now would be a great time to do so! Knowledge is power.
