Chest X ray/AB titer: Chest x ray (cxr) shows diffuse, patchy infiltrates, while wbc, esr, liver fxn. Tests (lft) are normal. Diagnosis is made by isolation of the organism in culture and seeing a 4 fold rise in antibody. Treatment is tetracycline (500mg/day) for 7-14 days. Fever and symptoms improve in 24-48 hours. Erythromycin can be used in those allergic or who have trouble with tetracycline.
