A member asked:

What are the tests for mucopurulent cervicitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gram stain/gono/chla: If a woman has signs of this, like bleeding or high white blood cells on gram stain, she should be tested further. Patients who have mucopurulent cervicitis should be tested for c. Trachomatis and for n. Gonorrhoeae with the most sensitive and specific test available. It must be noted that mucopurulent cervicitis is not a sensitive for these infections, indeed most of these women don't have mpc.
