AF is Ok for CABG: Many older people needing CABG also have atrial fibrillation. This itself is not a particularly alarming risk for the procedure. More important risk factors include poorly controlled diabetes, significant lung or kidney disease and a weak heart muscle. Most important is to have the CABG at a major medical center with an experienced cardiac surgery team. Best wishes for speedy recovery!

Consider ablation: should discuss operative treatment of a-fib at time of CABG. Adds little time to the procedure and is fairly successful in converting back to sinus rythm. Have surgeon and cardiologist consider this
