AF is Ok for CABG: Many older people needing CABG also have atrial fibrillation. This itself is not a particularly alarming risk for the procedure. More important risk factors include poorly controlled diabetes, significant lung or kidney disease and a weak heart muscle. Most important is to have the CABG at a major medical center with an experienced cardiac surgery team. Best wishes for speedy recovery!
