2nd doc: max dose 4.5 mg a day.....divided into 3 doses. Sometimes we exceed the max allowed with things but we should consider safety above all. See if you can lower your dose to achieve same result....and to be less sleepy as a result. Not to mention higher chance of malignant melanoma with higher dosing, among many many other side effects. You might actually feel new and improved on lower dosing

Dosage: is usually 0.5 to 1.5 mg TID which is about 4.5mg per day. However many physicians do use slightly higher doses of medications depending on their comfort level and absence of adverse effects to control symptoms
