My wife has elevated ca 19-19 marker reading during routine health screening blood test. what do we do next to confirm if there is cancer or otherwise?

Depends on..: It is very unusual to get this type of test as a routine test. At least not recommended as a regular screening lab. It all depends on how elevated it is, her symptoms( weight loss, tiredness, for example) and other associated test results. Should follow up with medical provider who is taking care of her and discuss this issues and questions. Best wishes.

Is it CA19.9?: We usually do not recommend any tumor markers in routine blood test because they are neither sensitive nor specific. CA19-9 is frequently elevated in pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancers, and etc. It can also be elevated in some benign conditions such as cholangitis or gallstones. Depending on its level, a CT scan and see GI doctor will be helpful. Did she have any symptoms?
