A member asked:

Could blood be screened for cancer cells even if the screening is not always reliable?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes/No: Cancer may or may not show in the blood. If one has blood cancer(leukemia) then it will show in the blood. Most other cancers(Solid tumors) do circulate some Cancer cells but they are difficult to see in routine blood testing. Circulating tumor cells and more recently DNA fragments from cancer cells are under intense research study. You have to go to a major Cancer Center to have this test done.
