A member asked:

Does it cost a lot to do the test for huntington's disease for the family?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several costs: Genetic testing itself is only a few hundred dollars. However, responsible testing also means providing genetic counseling, a neurologic examination and psychological counseling before doing the blood test and allowing for a full discussion of the results afterwards. These visits also cost money. The huntington's disease society has a list of centers that will do the testing properly: www.Hdsa.Org.
