I asked my doctor for a genetic test for huntingtons disease, which is in my family. i have no symptoms, and have not had the test done yet. can my doctor keep my request confidential from my life insurance physical?

Apply now for Life: The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 prohibits health insurers or employers with more than 15 employees from discrimination based on someone's genetic information when it comes to insurance and employment. Protection does not extend to life insurance, disability insurance and long-term care insurance. Consider gettng a renewable 10-yr Life policy now.

If your doctor does not provide all your records to a Life insurer, they will not consider you. I would speak with your doctor, explain that you have no anti discrimination protection about your possible risk, and postpone the test.
