A Post: A post (prefabricated or Cast, fiber, metal ) is usually placed in the space provided inside the canal after root treatment. If the remaining root is deep inside the gum, it may not be possible for the Post to provide enough retention and it may be best to extract the tooth and place an implant

Extract: Extract the tooth and replace with an implant and crown. Especially at your age. Anything this badly broken down now will not last - even with the most excellent treatment. I am a Prosthodontist with 34 years experience and would not attempt to treat this condition. See a Prosthodontist for exam and options. Good Luck.

Post and core: By "building up" the tooth first with a core, the dentist can greatly increase the stability of the future crown and safe the natural tooth.
