Not useful: It's OK to give some water, but it probably is not going to be helpful. A 3 week old may go several days without a BM and still has a normal BM and has no problem with it. If he does get fussy and seem to have problem, pushing out hard BM's, then contact his doctor for recommendations. Pediatricians deal with this a lot, so follow his/her advice.
