Not if it's viral: Hi. Antibiotic overuse and inappropriate use has led to a crisis in antibiotic resistance. Most upper respiratory tract infections are viral. If you saw a doctor and she/he felt yours is bacterial and prescribed amoxicillin, then that's appropriate. Amoxicillin is still good for most community acquired Strep that causes pharyngitis.
