MRI: Reversal of cervical lordosis simply means loss of normal "goose like" curvature of the spine. Usually associated with some type of neck spasm. The disc osteophyte buldge is confusing. The disc is the soft jelly between your vertebrae and and osteophyte is an exuberant peice of bone. Something is sticking into your spinal fluid near your C5-C6 part of your spinal cord.

A chronic: disc bulge or protrusion can get buttressed by bone overgrowth called an osteophyte. This "disc osteophyte" complex can bulge into the spinal canal and press on the sac that surrounds the spinal fluid and cord(effacement). It can cause symptoms depending on the severity.
