A member asked:

What is the minimum percentage of oxygen required in hemoglobin to sustain human life?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No simple answer: All medical students ask for this number and are disappointed. The natural changes in the hemoglobin-oxygen dissociation curve alone make this question unanswerable -- as you'll realize if you understand this basic fact of physiology. I'm quite fit and have probably dropped my pO2 during underwater swims to levels that would kill an angina patient.
