A member asked:

Can high o2 affinity hemoglobin cause arterial blood gas values of high o2?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Less O2 delivery: High o2 affinity HGB (leftward shift in o2 saturation curve) means it requires a higher partial pressure of o2 to achieve the same o2 saturation. The HGB is more tightly bound to o2 and less is delivered to the tissues. More o2 will be necessary to adequately deliver oxygen to the tissues.
