What is the difference between a public and a private umbilical cord blood bank?

Cord blood: If I'm not mistaken, public banking is for everyone to use, meaning you donate your cord blood and you can use your own if you ever need it,as long as no one else used it since its for everyone to use. Private banking is strictly yours and yours only to use.
