25% and 2mm: Normal vertical overbite is approximately 25%. The upper front teeth should cover about 25% of the lower front teeth when you bite your back teeth together. Normal horizontal overbite (overjet) has the biting edge of the lower front teeth gently touching the back of the upper front teeth, and the upper teeth biting edge 2mm in front of the lower teeth.
