Causes except stroke: Things that can cause the symptoms of a stroke are a TIA (or mini stroke), an infection in the brain, multiple sclerosis, and rarely, metastatic cancer. Stroke is the most common cause of stroke symptoms by far, and these other conditions are evaluated by CT and MRI of the brain, which is normally done for stroke.
