A member asked:

What are my chances of having whooping cough? how common is it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not common: Generally whooping cough is not common because of vaccines. There has been an large increase in whooping cough in the last 10 years. If there is a local outbreak of whooping cough in your area then your chances of having it go up a lot. If you have a person in your house with whooping cough then you will very likely get it. Adults can be given a booster shot to keep them from getting it
