Not common: Generally whooping cough is not common because of vaccines. There has been an large increase in whooping cough in the last 10 years. If there is a local outbreak of whooping cough in your area then your chances of having it go up a lot. If you have a person in your house with whooping cough then you will very likely get it. Adults can be given a booster shot to keep them from getting it
