Yes: The whoop is more specific to infants.Their airways are rubbery and spasm,filling with so much debris that they cough continuously until they inhale against a noisy airway. Adults often go through the pre cough phase for weeks followed by the "100 days cough" which is seldom worse than the average bronchitis, just longer.
