Many factors: Many factors determine whether or not a woman will go into preterm labor and will have a preterm delivery. A good predictor is to determine the length of the cervix by ultrasound. If by 24 weeks the length is not less than 30 mm, the likelihood of a preterm delivery is very low. The most important preventive measure you can take is, attend prenatal care visits on a regular basis.
