Varies tremendously: Symptoms can vary from weight loss, fatigue, severe diarrhea, skin rashes (Kaposi sarcoma to macular type rashes), pneumonia (Pneumocystic jerovecki), swollen lymph nodes (in the most serious case Berkitt's lymphoma), night sweats.......and then again can present with nothing at all!

HIV : Hiv often infects humans without any symptoms. If one does get symptoms they are usually similar to the flu; muscle aches, low grade fever and sometimes a full body rash.

GET TESTED!!: If you believe that you have early HIV disease you should tell your doctor so you can be tested and if positive started on haart immediately. We know that treating acute retroviral syndrome with haart decreases the damage done to the immune system from hiv. Get tested!

Acute retroviral sx: The most common symptoms of acute retroviral infection is no signs/symptoms. The acute syndrome is no different in males or females ; may present as a mononucleosis like illness. Fever (38-40c), fatigue, ; myalgias; sore throat w/ or w/o swollen tonsils; generalized red body rash; non-tender swelling of lymph nodes in armpits ; front /back of the neck. It takes an alert physician to diagnose!

Variable ; lab test: Some people have flu like illness within a few weeks of getting infected. Others may have no symptoms till years later.
