The photosensitive cells (rods and cones) in the retina are most densely packed in the fovea. what is a fovea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Central visual pit: The fovea is an anatomical pit in the center of the macular area at the back of the eye. It is a densely packed net of cones and is the part of the retina which sees the finest detail and much of the color. It is easily seen as a depression in retinal scans and as a sharp highlight with the ophthalmoscope. Be thankful for yours as it is why you can read this message.
