A member asked:

Damage to the fovea of the eye would interfere with what?

Central vision: The fovea is the site of the most critical vision such as reading and facial recognition. If the fovea is damaged this function will diminish proportional to the damage. The other eye will compensate mostly unless it too is damaged.

Central vision: The fovea centralis is the focus point for light entering the eye. When damaged, the central vision (the vision responsible for reading and fine detail) can be damaged or lost.
