A member asked:

Is it safe to take vitamin d (7000 iu) per day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Hi. Yes, that's completely safe. Vitamin D toxicity is a myth. The active, hormonal form of vitamin D (calcitriol, or 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D) can be toxic, but not vitamin D. You get an increase of about 6 on your 25-hydroxyvitamin D for every 1,000 Iu/day you take, so depending on your starting 25-D level, you can roughly estimate you'll add 42 to that. You may not need that much, but no harm.
