A member asked:

Whats the difference in tests for ulcerative vs chron's disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Same work up!: Often the work up is the same. Based on symptoms colonoscopy is used and often times ct scans and other gastrointestinal imaging such as small bowel series and capsule endoscopy are used as well. Some physicians will order blood tests to try to determine whether it is crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Often the symptoms are the most important factor in deciding whether it is crohn's disease.
