Best to wait 6 weeks: Deliveries often time require repair of vaginal injury requiring sutures or ' stitches'. C-section delivery involves surgical repair of abdominal incision. Sexual intercourse may not only be disruptive to those areas, it may cause pain and further injury. In addition, bleeding from placenta site attachment causes vaginal discharge up to 6 weeks which may predispose to maternal infections.
