Supply and demand: You don't have to empty your breasts each feeding. Breast milk develops on a supply and demand system. The more your baby eats, the more you make. If you are pumping a lot after nursing, you are telling the breasts to make more milk for the next feedings. If you want some breast milk to store, that's fine, but there is no need to pump until empty.
