A member asked:

I got swabbed for some kind of infection. however, i also have a family history of cervical cancer. will the swabs they took also look for that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Getting swabbed for infection in association with family history of cervix Ca suggests the swab was vaginal in origin. If done by Gyn a Pap may have been requested. If ordered by infectious disease MD only cultures may be taken and no formal Pap smear performed. One would have to speak with LMD having taken the smear.
